Lock-In for Love is a fun and easy way to be there for animals in need from home. Register for free and set up a personal or team fundraising page to collect donations online throughout the month of June. While we’re unable to invite you to be locked in at one of our branches as we have in the past, on June 24th you can create your own Lock-In experience (with or without pets!) at home or at work for one hour to focus on your last fundraising push.
At the end of the day, we will gather virtually to celebrate all your hard work and the funds raised for the animals!
Lock-In for Love officially starts Tuesday, June 1, 2021, and participants will fundraise through Thursday, June 24, 2021. On June 24, we invite participants to Lock-In at home or work to focus on one last fundraising push for the animals. Then in the evening on the 24th we will gather (virtually) for a short celebration and introduce you to some of the animals you have helped.

Your Lock-In can be as simple as dedicating one hour to sending out your last call for donations to your network, or you can get creative and design your own Lock-In with (or without) your pets! Feel free to Lock-In anytime that suits you, then in the evening we will gather (virtually) to celebrate all your hard work and funds raised for the animals.
The celebration will be short and sweet and introduce you to some of the animals you have helped. A link to the celebration will be provided closer to the day and you can share the link with all your generous donors!
Take your fundraising to the next level!
1) Make a plan and mark your calendar
Lock-In for Love kicks off Tuesday, June 1 and goes through Thursday, June 24, 2021. The earlier you start the more $$ you are likely to raise! Then mark June 24 on your calendar and start thinking about how you’ll spend your Lock-In and final fundraising push for the animals, before joining us in the evening for a short virtual celebration!
2) Set your goal and make the first donation
During registration you’ll be asked to set a fundraising goal, set an ambitious goal to show your friends and family that you are serious about saving animals’ lives.
Next, set an example and inspire others by making the first donation. When your friends and family see this they will be extra motivated to help you reach your goal.
3) Customize your Personal Fundraising Page
This is your chance to tell everyone how much you love animals and explain why you have chosen to fundraise for the BC SPCA. You may want to share a personal story of an animal who has touched your life. Then, upload photos of some of your favourite animals, after all, who can say no to a furry face?
4) Tell everyone you’re fundraising and why
Don’t be afraid to ask. Giving makes people feel great, even during this challenging time, people still want to be there for the animals. Don’t forget, you are asking on behalf of vulnerable animals that desperately need us.
Share your fundraising via email, Facebook, Instagram, text, whatever your preferred method of communication is during social distancing.
To make it easy we have template emails ready for you to update and send! From your Personal Fundraising Centre you can send emails to friends and co-workers letting them know you are raising funds for the animals and asking them to visit your page and donate.
5) Don’t be afraid to keep asking
We all need a reminder now and then. Don’t be afraid to keep reminding others about your mission to help vulnerable animals.
6) Share your success with everyone and express your thanks!
Don’t forget to send a special thank you to all your donors. Your Personal Fundraising Centre features a list of everyone who donated online and a tool for sending thank you emails.
We understand the pandemic has brought many challenges to everyday life and not everyone is in a position to give. Over the past year we have continued to see great results in a range of our campaigns – our Calendar Contest (a fundraiser where supporters ask their friends and family to help them reach their goal) recently achieved a record number of entries and funds raised!
If you know some of your friends and family aren’t in a position to give, why not ask them to share your page instead, and help you spread the message!
Your Personal Fundraising Centre is your fundraising online headquarters and contains all the tools you need to connect with potential donors. Here you can check the donations you’ve received, track your progress, and email your friends and family. Personalize your page with stories, pictures, and videos to let your friends know why it means so much for them to give generously to the animals.
Yes, the more the merrier! When you register as a team, you will create both a Lock-In for Love Team Fundraising Page, as well as an Individual Fundraising Page. You can use the Team Page to track team fundraising and to ask others to join you. If you’ve already registered as an individual and would now like to start a team email us at email@example.com and we’ll help you out!
Yes, we welcome animal lovers of all ages to participate in Lock-In for Love!
By submitting your funds as soon as possible, your dollars can go to work immediately to help animals in your community! The aim is to collect all donations by June 24 so we can celebrate the total together. However, your personal page will remain up and running and able to accept donations in the months following the event.
It can take up to 24 hours to receive a confirmation email. If you have not received a confirmation within 24 hours, remember to check your ‘junk’ folder just in case and then contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We will be happy to check the status for you.
Changes on your “Amount Raised Online” total and team total should be updated within 24 hours.
All donations of $10 or more are eligible to receive a tax receipt. If your donors make a donation online they will automatically receive an electronic tax receipt by email.
While giving online is the fastest and easiest way for you and your donors to get funds to the animals, you may also mail funds to BC SPCA Lock-In for Love 1245 E 7th Ave, Vancouver BC, V5T 1R1. Please include complete name, address and phone details for each donor so that a receipt can be issued. Tax receipts will be emailed or mailed directly to donors. Please be sure to provide all contact details when submitting your donation as this is required by the Canada Revenue Agency before we can issue a receipt. Processing times for offline donations will vary, but if you’d like to follow up send an email to email@example.com.
No, based on Canada Revenue Agency guidelines, we are only able to issue tax receipts to donors. Your supporters will receive a tax receipt for their donations (of $10 or more), and you will receive a tax receipt for your personal donations.
