My kiddos at school held a fundraiser to buy a gift for an elder. We sold freezies and the turnout was incredible. We met our goal and the students voted on what to do with the extra funds. The results were overwhelming: they wanted to help the SPCA because they love animals so much. The SPCA does good work -- it is certainly where most of our furballs come from. If you are interested in supporting the Alberni branch, go ahead and drop them a few bucks. Caring for these animals isn't cheap and it helps get them into loving homes. Ultimately, I would love to do more with kids and the SPCA and it looks like the local branch is preparing to do more educational outreach in the coming months. YAY!
