Martha was surrendered to a local animal shelter twice before coming home to us. When we adopted her, there was lots to learn about her given that she was four years old at the time and had a history of reactivity with other dogs. However, her elated smile and soft eyes made it easy to fall in love with her. She was meant to be our family. Though she had been returned to a shelter in her past, that would never be the case for her again. Martha just needed what all dogs do - unconditional love and patience. Since being with us, Martha has warmed up to dogs and has made best friends with our cat. Martha is gentle, playful and loves everyone she meets.
Martha is a true testiment to how rescuing changes lives for the better, not just theirs but ours too.
With Martha's story in mind, I'm working with BC SPCA during their Lock-In for Love Fundraising Event to help support them in their mission to rescue and rehome animals in the community.
Caring people like you and I make it possible for animals to be given a second chance by the BC SPCAs compassionate teams. A chance to love and be loved, to sleep peacefully, play, get up to mischief and trust that they will never have to relive hardships again. With your help, we can give more animals this opportunity.
