Many know how much Coco helped me, but they don't know his story
Coco originally came to the SPCA in Gatineau, Quebec, I was told he was a stray but also by another person that he had been surrendered (but the SPCA didn't know exactly how old he was or what his situation was). From the SPCA he was taken in by a local Ottawa rescue named Hopeful Hearts, meant to find homes for dogs that had an unknown history or ongoing medical issues. It was love at first sight for both of us, and for eight wonderful years we were inseparable. He became my certified service dog, helping me with my permanent chronic pain from a training injury I got in my military service. He travelled with me across Europe on the Wounded Warriors Battlefield Bike Ride, competed with me in the Army Run in Ottawa (the header image, little man always knew where a camera was), and travelled across Canada several times with me and even helped me walk one of my close friends down the aisle in Las Vegas. He was the bestest boy ever, I miss him terribly, and I wanted to help the local SPCA with this fundraiser (and get the opportunity to spend some time cuddling fur babies at their shelter).
Will you join my animal rescue mission?
So many more Coco's are out there, waiting to be healed from their wounds (emotional and physical), and to find their perfect pawrent. I'd love it if you could help me raise some money for this wonderful cause, we all know there are so many animals in need of care and protection. Whatever amount you are comfortable with, having you by my side in this community effort means the world to me. Thank you!
