As some of you may know, I am not working at the moment due to circumstances beyond my control. Now that I find myself with a lot of extra time all of a sudden, I want to spend it doing something I love and care deeply about...and one of them is to help animals in need.

This fundraiser was created in loving memory of my first pet, Meow Meow, who was also my soul cat.

In January 2013, I was scrolling through facebook as usual and that was when I came across a friend's post about needing to find a home for a cat her boyfriend's parents had to give up due to allergy. Meow Meow was 6-year-old at the time and if they couldn't find her a home, she would've been surrendered to SPCA and life might had been very different for her as older animals don't tend to get adopted as easily. At that time, Pat and I had no plans to get a pet but for some reason, I felt this very strong urge to go meet her and convinced Pat to do so. When we met her, we knew right away she was going to be ours and it was like she also knew she had found her forever home. The first night she came home with us, within 15 minutes, she had climbed onto Pat's chest and fell asleep there.

In February 2023, Meow Meow crossed the rainbow bridge after 10 amazing years. When she left us, my world shattered. To this day, I can't stop myself from crying whenever I think of her. A month after she had passed, I was once again scrolling through Faebook and that was when I came across Maxine's profile from a rescue organization.

Maxine is a rescue dog from Taiwan. She was estimated 3.5-4-year-old when she was rescued from a family that had locked her up in a tiny metal cage outside for who knows how long. She was neglected, underfed and undersocialized. Her coat was so overgrown and matted when she was rescued, she had to be shaved completely. Her rescuer was very concerned she was not going to get adopted as she was, again, an older animal and that she didn't look as "cute".

Now I don't know if you believe in this kind of thing or not but when I saw Maxine, it was as if Meow Meow had sent her to us to tell us everything was going to be ok. Within a couple of hours after submitting the application for Maxine, I got a phone call from the rescue and within a week, she had flown across the Pacific Ocean to a foster here in YVR then to us, her now forever home. So far, it's been 2 wonderful years with our Maxie girl.

In April 2024, we decided it was time to add another family member and that was when we adopted our chunky monkey, Millie-Yam, from another rehoming situation.

If you have read this far, I just want to say Thank You. Thank you for caring. I hope whatever amount is raised will be able to help another animal or animals find a forever home.

My goal one day is to be able to foster animals and even be able to adopt them all! haha. Especially adult and senior ones.

Every kind gift makes a difference. Whatever amount you are comfortable with, having you by my side in this community effort means the world to me. Thank you!
